Join us and visit Fieldnotes Jamaica a free photographic exhibition

Fieldnotes Jamaica is a new series of work by artist Tracey Thorne made as a response to the global climate crisis and reflects on environmental challenges facing the Island of Jamaica.

This new body of work was created during the pandemic, a period that provided the artist with more time to look closely at the world which surrounds us and reflect on one of the defining issues of our time.

The images in the Fieldnotes Jamaica exhibition explore Jamaica through a wide environmental lens as well as drawing upon personal experience of living on the island, research and a long term interest in the typography of landscapes. The work seeks to highlight the fractured and altered natural landscape as a result of inharmonious human interference from Colonial times to the present day.

The exhibition will be open from the 29 July to 19 August 2022 with details of the full programme and opening times will be available on the website from June.

The exhibition is made up of a set of c-type photographic prints, cyanotypes and a large print on silk all made by the artist. The project received support from Arts Council England.
