FREE CAREERS EVENT
During March, the Goldsmiths Craft and Design Exhibition will be making its way to the Birmingham Assay Office for two weeks. The event encourages and promotes the pursuit of excellence in craftsmanship and design. It will showcase this year’s winners, as well as past Birmingham based winners.
To tie in with the exhibition, the Birmingham Assay Office will be hosting a careers event. The event will take place on Thursday 23rd March, between 10-2 pm, and will feature inspiring talks from trade figures together with an array of exhibitors such as Hockley Mint, Vipa Design, Betts Metals and the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths to offer advice and guidance.
This free event will offer the opportunity to meet, network and get expert advice from businesses in the jewellery trade, view hallmarking and gemmology demonstrations, take tours around the Birmingham Assay Office as well as attend talks by leading industry experts.

Join us for an Afternoon Tea with a historical twist to celebrate our 250th Birthday!
You’ll dine in our Silver Room and enjoy an Afternoon tea that includes a selection of sandwiches, pastries, and scones with a choice of tea or coffee. You will also learn about the long history of hallmarking and the success of the Birmingham Assay Office since it was founded as a result of Matthew Boulton’s efforts in 1773.
Whilst in our silver room you’ll be able to view our Silver Collection which is our historic collection of spectacular objects created by some of Birmingham’s most celebrated Silversmiths including Matthew Boulton, Nathaniel Mills and Elkington & Co.
You will also be given behind the scenes access to see how our incredible team hallmark today using both traditional and modern practices, and have the opportunity to try hallmarking for yourself.
Price: £45 per person (price includes a £5 donation to our nominated charities of the year; Midlands Air Ambulance and The Benevolent Society)
